Support in Settings
Summary
Section titled “Summary”Support (version, website, FAQ, feedback, rate, privacy, terms, credits; see Support and about) is reached from the sidebar’s ⋯ menu on iOS and the Library’s ⋮ menu on Android. Android also has a Support row at the bottom of Settings; iOS has none. The owner wants one way in, the same on both: the last row of Settings. The menu entry goes on both platforms (owner, 2026-10-20).
Behaviour
Section titled “Behaviour”| Where | Today | New |
|---|---|---|
| iOS sidebar ⋯ menu (iPhone, iPad) | Support, then Settings | gone: a Settings button (gear) in its place opens Settings directly |
| Android Library ⋮ menu (also the medium window’s rail header) | Support, then Settings | gone: a Settings icon button (gear) in its place opens Settings directly |
| iOS Settings | no Support row | a last section with one row, Support, which pushes the Support screen inside Settings |
| Android Settings | a last group with one row, Support | unchanged |
| Mac menu bar, Help › Support | opens Support | unchanged (the Mac’s place for it; the Mac sidebar has no ⋯ menu) |
The iOS row:
- its own section after Advanced, without a header or footer, as Android’s group;
- the
lifepreservericon the menu entry used (Android:VultureIcons.Support), in the usual icon tile; - title “Support” (
settings.title.support, the screen’s own title, already in all 8 languages); - a tap pushes the Support screen (
MainSettingsScreen.support) on the Settings navigation stack, with a back button to Settings, as Android does. The Support screen itself does not change.
The Settings button (owner, 2026-10-20, decision 3):
- iOS: a bar button in the sidebar’s navigation bar, where the system drew the ⋯, with the
gearshapesymbol (.settingsSystemName) and the accessibility label “Settings” (sidebar.menu.settings). A tap does what the menu entry did (presentSettings). The Mac sidebar stays without it: Settings is in the app menu there (⌘,). - Android: an
IconButtonwithVultureIcons.Settingsand the content description “Settings” (sidebar_menu_settings), in the Library’s top bar and in the medium window’s rail header where the ⋮ was. A tap opens the Settings tree as the menu entry did. No dropdown remains.
None.
None.
Strings
Section titled “Strings”None new. iOS reuses settings.title.support. sidebar.menu.support (iOS) and sidebar_menu_support (Android) are
no longer used: remove them. The Mac’s Help › Support (AppCommand.support) has its own title,
menu.button.help, and keeps working.
Decisions
Section titled “Decisions”| # | Question | Decision | Date |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Where is Support reached? | The last row of Settings, on both platforms; not from the sidebar or Library menu. | 2026-10-20 |
| 2 | The Mac’s Help › Support? | Kept: the Help menu is where a Mac app puts it, and the Mac has no ⋯ menu to lose it from. | 2026-10-20 |
| 3 | A menu with one item left? | No menu: a direct Settings button replaces the ⋯ / ⋮ on both platforms (this replaces the first answer, “keep the menu with Settings only”, the same day). | 2026-10-20 |
| 4 | A Support row in the Mac’s Settings window? | No: Help › Support is the Mac’s way in, and a Mac app’s settings hold no help (iOS implementation). | 2026-10-20 |
