Calculations

How Vulture turns an IGC file into the numbers a pilot reads. iOS is the reference implementation, and Android ports it to give the same numbers; where the two differ, the page says so.

The analysis pipeline itself (parsing, take-off and landing, thermals, glides, optimisation, task scoring) was written down for the Android port in Flight analysis, and the map side in Map, barogram and airspace. The pages in this section cover what is built on top of it, and link back rather than repeat it.

PageCovers
Flight figuresThe numbers in the flight detail and the map’s readings line: distance, speeds, heights, glide ratio, take-off performance, AGL
Rating and DebriefThe four part scores, the 0–1000 rating and its words, and the answer to every Debrief question
ThermalsAverage climb, height gained and lost, the Climb chart, the Centring score, the 3D view
Compare, ranking and statisticsThe differences in Compare, the race ranking during a replay, who followed whom, and the logbook statistics
In flight and toolsThe in-flight cells, the live averages, the airspace sheet in flight, the measure tool, METAR and TAF values

The iOS code has quirks that the tests pin, such as mixed Earth radii (6,371 km for most distances, 6,378.137 km in the optimisation) and smoothing that reads already-smoothed values. Android reproduces them so both platforms show the same numbers; a fix lands on both at once. The list is in Flight analysis §13, and the pages here flag the ones they meet.
